Ford was not only one of the most successful manufacturers of these cars, they arguably made the best. These full-sized wagons would soon be out of fashion but Ford kept this model going to the end of the 1970s.
A family car it may be, but built on a huge frame, it was as smooth and comfortable as any luxury car on the road. Like the Thunderbird and Lincoln, it is powered by a vast 7.5 litre V8 engine. Rare even in America today, only two or three are believed to be on the road in the UK.
