This is a fibreglass bodied special based on VW running gear and fitted with a flat 4 VW Tyoe 4 1700cc engine.

The car originated in 1972 and was a design by Richard Oakes aided by Phill Sayers who put it into production as a kit. This one was originally built in 1984 based on a 1968 VW Beetle and was recently given a ground up restoration, is fully road legal and registered with the DVLA as an historic vehicle.

This model of car (Called the Sterling in the US) also featured in the closing credits of Death Race 2,000 driven by David Carradine. It also featured briefly in film The Cannonball Run. Disney also featured a modified version for their film Condor Man.
